Romelu Lukaku believes there are plenty of goals in the current Manchester United squad and there is still more to come from the team after a fine start to the season.
The Reds have enjoyed a flying start to 2017/18, sitting top of the Premier League, after taking 10 points from the first four games, and leading Group A in the UEFA Champions League following a dominant 3-0 win over FC Basel on our return to Europe's top competition on Tuesday.
Lukaku is personally in a rich vein of form, having made an immediate impact at the start of his United career, with six goals in as many games for the Reds, as well as four in two matches for Belgium to help them qualify for next summer's World Cup finals during the recent international break.
Speaking after heading the second goal in the victory over Basel, the striker was delighted to make his mark on a memorable night for the club and is confident the team can continue to make progress.
"I was looking forward to just playing with this team in the Champions League," Lukaku told MUTV. "We were really well prepared and the result showed it as well but, as we all know, we can play better."
The Reds once again showed that goals can be spread around the team this season as Lukaku's fellow countryman Marouane Fellaini and Marcus Rashford also netted against the Swiss champions at the Theatre of Dreams.
He said: "There are plenty of goals in the team. That's what the fans want, it's what we all want. We work really hard in training on a daily basis and it's good that different people can jump in whenever."
In a separate interview recently, Lukaku lifted the lid on why he felt United was the best place to fulfil his ambitions to win trophies and play in the Champions League.
"It's the biggest club in the world," he said. "As soon as I signed for the club, I knew how big it was, I knew what it meant. I knew what the players were like, I really wanted this challenge and I knew about the interest of other clubs for about a year, so it was really on my mind to come and have a taste of it and I'm really grateful I got this opportunity."
Lukaku joins a long list of players who have worn the famous number nine shirt for the Reds down the years. When asked which United strikers he looked up to when he was younger, he said: "Andy Cole, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Dwight Yorke and, obviously more recently, Wayne Rooney."
Lukaku will come up against one of those hit-men this weekend in former Reds skipper Rooney, who is set to return to Old Trafford with Everton for the first time since rejoining his boyhood club over the summer.
It will also see Lukaku come up against his former club on Sunday afternoon but the 24-year-old is just focusing on working hard to be ready for the game.
"I just keep going," added Lukaku, who scored 71 goals in three seasons for Everton before his move to the Reds. "The next game up is Everton, we are going to prepare really well and get another result."
